If you are an asylum seeker in Greece, there are two important obligations you have to follow: you have to renew your white card before it expires and you need to go to your interview on the date written in your white card. If you fail to do so, then according to the law, your case will be closed. There is still a chance to reopen your case, but a recent change in the law has made this harder. You now need to present good reasons as to why you were not able to renew your white card or why you didn't go to the interview. For example, a good reason may be that you were in hospital because you were sick or that you are living in a different city to the Asylum Office and there was no transportation for you available to go to your appointment.
Please try to bring documents proving this, such as a certificate from a hospital or a statement of your camp management to show that there was no transportation available. In any case, if you discover that you didn't renew your white card or that you missed your interview appointment it is best to go as soon as possible to the Asylum Office and present the reasons why you weren't able to go to your appointment as well founded as possible. If you need help with that, please contact your lawyer or social worker. If you don't have any you can also get in contact with us, the Mobile Info Team. Still, the best way to avoid all this trouble is to always renew your white card in time and to never miss your interview appointments with the Asylum Office!
