MORE THAN 150,000 PEOPLE IN 50 EUROPEAN CITIES DEMONSTRATE FOR A MORE WELCOMING EUROPE

This week, elections for the European Parliament will take place. To protest against nationalist and racist parties that are increasing in strength and popularity, more than 150,000 people peacefully demonstrated last Sunday in over 50 European cities. Among other things, they were demanding a more welcoming Europe for migrants and refugees. Instead of fortifying Europe's borders, they asked for guaranteed safe escape routes and fair asylum procedures. The protesters called on all European citizens to vote in the European election against nationalism and racism to ensure a democratic, peaceful and united Europe. Demonstrators held signs saying "For a Europe without fences" and "My heart beats for diversity".ι
