“One of the most important things that refugees

need help with is information and advice about the

asylum procedures here in Greece.”

How did you hear about Mobile Info Team and why did you choose this organization to work with?

I’ve known about Mobile Info Team since April 2016, when I was in Idomeni in Northern Greece. I have been in contact with them from that time, and Mobile Info Team helped, and is still helping, me with my family reunification procedure. The biggest reason why I wanted to work with Mobile Info Team is that I wanted to work with an organization that has helped and is still helping me and my community. One of the most important things that refugees need help with is information and advice about the asylum procedures here in Greece.

What is most challenging/difficult? What is most rewarding?

The most challenging is the fact that you are working with people that are extremely sensitive and have been through many horrible things. Sometimes information does not bring good news, but people have to know the truth. It's hard for many to accept the laws, and it can be hard to explain it to them because it's something that they don't want to know. But the most rewarding thing is when people know what they can and can't do, and what they should and shouldn't do. You build a good relationship between you and the community because it's always good to know the truth. People start trusting you, and this is where good relationships come from.

How do you believe Mobile Info Team makes a difference?

The Mobile Info Team has the ability to explain information in an easy and understandable way, and always makes sure that the refugee understands everything clearly. The team tries to fully understand the questions asked and listen to the refugees for as long as needed. We take the time to listen to the refugees, and give and explain the information and advice more than once until every answer to their questions is clearly understood. This is something that the refugees don't find with their own lawyers, if they have one. Mobile Info Team is very accessible, communicating on a daily basis via WhatsApp, whereas with lawyers, they may have to wait days for an appointment. That's how the Mobile Info Team makes a difference.
